Chocolate Ice Cream Recipe

Many people in this world are chocolate lover. It is not a surprised to hear that the chocolate ice cream is most popular and favorite flavor among the American people. Here is the chocolate ice cream recipe that helps you to make chocolate ice cream at home. This ice cream is enriched with the deep chocolate flavor because it contains the both semi sweet chocolate and cocoa powder. It contains the custard base which causes the silky smooth texture. It is lovely itself but also give great taste if mixed with strawberry or even vanilla ice-cream.

Here is the chocolate ice cream recipe that is easy to use and you make your own taste as you want just in 3 hours. Just try this at your home and get the chocolate ice-cream enriched with great chocolate flavor.

Ingredients:

In order to prepare the chocolate ice cream you have to buy the following ingredients.

  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 oz 60% baking chocolate
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2-cup sugar
  • 2 cups cream
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 egg yolks, whisked
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon instant coffee (optional)

Method:

To prepare the chocolate ice cream follow these steps.

Step #1:

Take the chocolate in the bowl then melt it with the help of a double boiler. If the double boiler is not available then you can also make your own double boiler at home by putting a metal bowl in the saucepan filled with boil water, remember that the bottom of the bowl does not touch the bottom of the saucepan. Now after melting the chocolate pour it into the heavy bottomed but medium sized saucepan. Now turn the heat to the normal level and add the boiling water in it. Then add the cocoa powder half of the sugar in the chocolate mixture. Stir the mixture and whisk vigorously until all the lumps are removed from it and there is no any lumps left behind in the mixture. Now remove the saucepan from the heat.

Step #2:

After the step one is completed then proceeds to next step. Now add the milk and 1 cup of the cream. Also add the remaining sugar and the instant coffee if you are using and stir the whole mixture. Then whisk the mixture vigorously with the addition of salt to the base of the chocolate. Now stir the base vigorously until the lumps are removed and it becomes fully incorporated. Now scrap the sides and bottom of the pan by using the rubber spatula. When the base of the chocolate become smooth then turn the heat to the medium high, stirring the base occasionally and put the pan on the heat until the steam is getting of from the chocolate base. Now pour the egg yolks in the medium sized bowl and whisk it. Once the steam is getting off from the base then pour it to the eggs slowly while stirring the eggs vigorously and continuously to prevent the eggs from cooking. When the eggs and half of the base is incorporated then pour the egg mixture back to the cooking pan and whisk all the mixture to combine it with the rest of the chocolate base.

Step #3:

Heat the chocolate base until it reaches the point of 170°F by turning the heat to the medium level. When the base reaches to this point it gets slightly thick and the steam again starts to get out from it. Now remove the pan from heat and pour it in the cold cream to prevent it from the further heating. After pouring the base into the bowl now smash the whole base through the mesh strainer to remove or strain out the curds and solids from the base. Now place the bowl to speed up the chilling in an ice bath.

Step #4:

You have to chill the chocolate ice cream base for several hours. It is more prefer to chill it all over the night until the all base is completely chilled off. You can also put the in the freezer and stir it after every 20 minutes to speed up this process. If you like to eat the soft ice cream then eat it immediately or other wise put it into the freezer for several hours until it gets fully chilled. You chocolate ice cream is ready to serve and eat after you take it out from the freezer.
